- 1Visit the branch closest to you and ask for an account opening form.
- 2Fill in both parts of the form. Form 1 covers your name, address and signature; Form 2 is only for applicants without a PAN card.
- 3Attach your KYC documents and check that the details match the form exactly.
- 4Make the initial deposit of Rs. 1,000.
- 5Once the bank completes verification you receive a passbook and cheque book free of charge.
What to bring
- Proof of identity — passport, driving licence, proof of possession of Aadhaar, Voter’s ID, NREGA job card or an NPR letter
- Proof of address — the same document if it carries your current address, otherwise a separate one
- PAN card, or Form 60 if you do not hold a PAN
- Recent passport-size photographs
